It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the ESSKA Shoulder Focus Meeting, taking place on 10–11 September 2027 at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital in Istanbul.

This meeting will bring together colleagues with a shared interest in shoulder surgery for two days dedicated to rotator cuff tears, from primary repair to the challenges of complex reconstruction. Our aim is to create a forum for open discussion, where scientific evidence and surgical experience inform the decisions we face in everyday practice.

The scientific programme will explore the management of anterosuperior and posterosuperior rotator cuff tears, addressing both repairable and irreparable lesions. Topics will include repair strategies, biological and structural augmentation, superior capsular reconstruction and tendon transfers, alongside the role of biomechanics and advances in preoperative planning.

Discussion and participation will be central to the meeting. Expert debates will examine competing treatment approaches, while “Relive” surgical videos will provide step-by-step insights into operative techniques. Dedicated case discussions will offer opportunities to work through difficult clinical scenarios together, considering treatment indications, technical challenges and expected outcomes.

We warmly invite shoulder surgeons, sports medicine specialists, fellows and residents to contribute their experience and questions. We hope that the conversations sparked during these two days will support your clinical practice and inspire lasting professional connections.
